Checking HVACR Systems Before Calling the Repairman

What to do first when you air conditioning system or heat pump breaks down. Before you call an air conditioning contractor, you should follow a few simple steps to see if you can restore you air. Always check your thermostat first. Sometimes the clocks on programmable thermostats are not accurate and therefore they may shut the air conditioning system down when it’s not supposed to. Be sure you have the thermostat set to cool and that the temperature setting is turned down far enough to make the air conditioning system turn on. The next step is to check your circuit breaker. For split air conditioning systems there will be two breakers, one for the air handler and one for the outdoor condensing unit. It is important to check both because either of them being tripped will cause the air conditioning system not to function. If you circuit breaker is tripped, it is ok to reset it, but if it trips again call for service and don’t reset it again until a profession air conditioning service technician has a chance to check the system over. A tripped breaker can be the result of a shorted circuit somewhere in the system and you don’t want to keep shorting it.
If you are having a problem with your air conditioning system and you live in South Florida, give us a call today and we will send a service technician to your home or office to give you a professional diagnosis of the problem.
