How UV Germicidal Lights Work
An UV germicidal light is a small apparatus installed in your ductwork to kill bacteria and viruses as they pass. These systems are effective because they use a concentrated beam of UV light in a confined space to kill only those microscopic bacteria and viruses.
UV light or Ultraviolet light is a naturally occurring wavelength of light produced by the sun. In fact, every day, when you go outside, you are barraged with UV rays – if you are exposed to too many of them and you get sunburn. Because UV light is less stable than the light we can see, it is more dangerous. It causes cell damage relatively rapidly on a cell–by–cell basis. Therefore, with time, it can severely burn your unprotected skin.
